NHPC Executing Four Major Hydropower Projects in J&K Worth ₹25,945 Cr: Govt | KNO

Srinagar, Dec 11 (KNO): The Government of India on Thursday informed the Lok Sabha that four major hydropower projects, totalling 3,014 MW, are under construction in Jammu and Kashmir through NHPC joint ventures. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the figures placed before the house states that the ongoing projects include Ratle Hydroelectric Project (850 MW) with estimated cost Rs 5,282 crore is likely to be commissioned in November 2028 Pakal Dul Hydroelectric Project (1,000 MW) Estimated cost ₹12,728 crore, likely commissioning December 2026,Kiru Hydroelectric Project (624 MW) Estimated cost ₹5,409 crore, likely commissioning December 2026,Kwar Hydroelectric Project (540 MW) with estimated cost Rs 4,526 crore is ikely commissioned by March 2028. The figures were revealed by the Union Power Minister Manohar Lal in a reply to a question by MP Mian Altaf Ahmad. “Together, the four projects amount to a total investment of Rs 25,945 crore. NHPC and its JV companies provide job opportunities to local people, including Project Affected Families (PAFs), through contractors,” the minister said. The ministry also said that it further helps in generating local income and supporting livelihoods. “Local residents are also offered bidding opportunities to encourage entrepreneurship and small businesses around project areas,” the minister said—(KNO)
